Designing a Human-Centered Workplace

April 28, 2022

Today, even after a year of the fastest labor market recovery in history, there are still almost 11 million job openings in the US. Every one of those open positions represents a choice. Employers can start to close this labor shortage by creating quality jobs that pay well, are supportive and fulfilling. But how do you create a workplace full of jobs like that?

We’ve created a new tool to help employers and their partners solve this challenge, “Designing a Human-Centered Workplace: A Guide for Employers.” Developed in partnership with Design Impact, the guide shows you how to engage all of your team members in making jobs better, improving your ability to recruit and retain talent, and building a thriving workforce.

Join us on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern for an introduction to the guide and the human-centered design process. Our speakers panel will include:

  • Sarah Corlett, Officer, Design Impact
  • Morgan Cabral, Vice President of Human Resources, Mahaney Group
  • Amanda Duncan, Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer at Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas
  • Ellen Frank-Miller, Ph.D., Founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Workforce and Organizational Research Center

What Business Results are Possible When You Redesign Jobs?

March 24, 2022

When you invest in workers to make their jobs better, how does it impact your business? Join us for a webinar on the Job Quality Outcome Maps, a new resource that sheds light in answering this question. Created with support from the Workforce and Organization Research Center (WORC), the maps show how specific job practices correspond with business and workplace outcomes, such as burnout and turnover intention. Dr. Ellen Frank-Miller of WORC will explain how to use the Outcome Maps to plan your job quality improvement efforts—including how to use input from frontline employees, and how to measure your results.

Speakers:

Tom Strong, Director of Employer Activation, National Fund for Workforce Solutions

Ellen Frank-Miller, Ph.D., Founder and Chief Science Officer, WORC

Aleece Smith, Coordinator of Sector Strategies, KentuckianaWorks
