Centering Workers in Job Design

Workplace practices are often created without input from the people most affected by them — the workers. This initiative helps employers change that by engaging workers as partners in reimagining how jobs are structured and supported. When employees have a voice in shaping their roles — from scheduling and task design to career advancement opportunities — businesses see real benefits: improved retention, stronger performance, and higher job satisfaction.

The National Fund and our Network Partners are helping employers adopt human-centered design strategies to co-create practical changes like clearer advancement pathways and better communication systems. The initiative also guides employers to explore policies that lead to increased compensation for workers. By aligning business goals with worker input, we’re helping build more equitable workplaces where both businesses and employees can thrive together.
