After two years of dedicated leadership, Joyce McDanel, vice president of human resources and education with Unity Point Health-Des Moines, will be stepping down from her role as chair of the CareerSTAT executive committee. Her leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic and her thoughtfulness in planning for the future of CareerSTAT has been exceptional. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership, Joyce has lent her expertise to CareerSTAT since its inception and will continue to serve on the CareerSTAT executive committee.
CareerSTAT is excited to announce that Gerard Camacho, AVP of Workforce Strategy at Atrium Health, will transition from vice chair to chair of the executive committee. Gerard was a participant in the first cohort of the Healthcare Workforce Development Academy and has been a terrific addition to CareerSTAT leadership. With his experience leading workforce development initiatives in the finance, government, and healthcare sectors, CareerSTAT and its members are ecstatic to see him take on this new role as chair.
Gerard will be leading the executive committee at a pivotal moment for CareerSTAT. In 2021, Gerard was joined by Joyce and other CareerSTAT leaders Laura Beeth (Fairview Health Services), Debbie Rowe (Genesis Staffing Services), and Joanne Pokaski (Beth Israel Lahey Health) to identify strategic vision and plan for the network through 2023. Through a series of sessions, the team reaffirmed CareerSTAT’s purpose and identified five priority areas for 2022-2023.
CareerSTAT is incredibly grateful to the planning team for their expertise, time, and dedication to helping it grow. While some of this work is contingent on securing additional funding, this plan gives the National Fund for Workforce Solutions a clear roadmap to bolster pitches. The future of CareerSTAT is very exciting!
